Biology College Prep
Biology is the study of life. In this course, study will focus on the central concepts of continuity, development, energy transfer, evolution, interdependence, and regulation. A major emphasis will be on developing these central concepts using scientific inquiry and understandings about scientific inquiry. Many levels of biological organization are explored through lecture/discussion, small group, cooperative learning and hands-on laboratory experiences. Scientific vocabulary, historical philosophies, methods, societal, ethical and environmental effects of scientific progress are also addressed.
Biology Honors

A major emphasis will be on developing these central concepts using scientific inquiry and understandings about scientific inquiry. Students are expected to employ advanced problem-solving skills in constructing hypotheses, designing experiments, as well as collecting and evaluating data. Written assignments are based on current scientific developments, and there is an expectation that students are able to work more independently.
