Overview
The Chicago High School for the Arts provides a comprehensive school counseling program that promotes and enhances student achievement, career and college readiness, and personal and social competency. Guidance services are an integral part of the total educational program.
The Guidance department works collaboratively with students, parents, community, faculty, and staff to provide holistic and developmentally appropriate counseling services. Supportive services provided include, but are not limited to: individual/group counseling, assessments, family support, vocational/college preparatory services, crisis management, and referrals.
As a college preparatory school, the guidance department focuses on assisting the student in reaching his/her maximum individual potential, and provides the knowledge, skills, and support necessary to prepare students for the next stage of their academic and/or artistic journey: entrance to a higher education university or conservatory program or the pursuit of a professional career in the arts.
